seriously? up here in canada, our doctors do not end up getting sued, and not because we have high fees, because our govenment doesnt let us sue our doctors unless its a really good reason. the commercials in the states sicken me, making it seem like the doctors are to blame for everything, even when a drug that was proven safe by the FDA at the time, but years later give people an illness that is related to said drug, you are encouraged to sue? this is NOT right. accountability is important, but to an extent. the US sues too much, in canada, we often associate the states with stupid lawsuits.

We need to keep hitting back. When people talk about frivolous lawsuits I always ask them what percent of all lawsuits are frivolous and to please define frivolous. This is the same for defensive medicine.

We need to find solutions to some of these problems. For example, Europe is trying "losers pay" insurance. It is an interesting concept.

Why Americans are so willing to give up one of their basic rights is beyond me.

Everyone makes mistakes every day. But in the medical field and the police, when they make mistakes, it can and sometimes does cause a tragic and unnecessary death. But was it really negligence? I don't think so. I think it was a freakin typo. A mistake. Like you and I make every day of our lives. They didn't ask the nurse who made the mistake how she's doing. I'll betcha her life hasn't been a bed of roses since that day either. And yet, it was only a mistake. I wonder how to writer of this article would feel if they were sued for every mistake, every typo they made... I wonder how they'd feel if someone died because they made a typo.

All I'm sayin here is that a little compassion for those who's mistakes are most likely to have tragic consequences. Cause we ALL make mistakes every day.
